What is a Doctoral Landscape Award?

Doctoral Landscape Awards were introduced by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) in 2023-24 as part of the UKRI’s Collective Talent Funding and Doctoral Investment Framework.  These awards offer broad, flexible funding and studentships which are both shaped to meet the needs of relevant disciplines and tailored to meet the needs of project, student, supervisor and project partners.  This scheme replaces the previous Doctoral Partnership scheme.

CENTA was successful in our bid to the Natural Environment Council (NERC) for a Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA), enabling us to continue to deliver PhD training for up to 5 further cohorts, commencing in autumn 2025.

CENTA is a consortium of Universities and research institutes that are working together to provide excellence in doctoral research training within the remit of the Natural Environment Research Council.

Our projects and training are supported by our external partners in the private sector, charity sector, non-governmental organisations and government agencies.
