National Centre for Earth Observation

The National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) is a distributed research centre providing the UK with expertise in Earth Observation (EO) science.  NCEO scientists monitor the health of our planet through satellite instruments and with world-class capability in interpreting these data. NCEO expertise incorporates world-class skills in interpretive EO, novel EO data and long-term change, model evaluation, improvements and constraints, and data assimilation.  

The University of Leicester hosts the headquarters of the NCEO at its Space Park Leicester (SPL) campus, a world-leading cluster for innovative research, enterprise and education in space and EO.
