My PhD project is the development of an AI system to monitor pollinatorsThe system will focus on bee identification, object tracking of pollinators as well as viewing of pollinators/plant relationship. This is due to the decline of pollinator populations documented across the UK. Therefore the aim of my project is evaluate how an AI and Deep learning approach can be used to model how best to help ensure the longevity of pollinators.

Before my PhD, I completed a BSc in Computer Science as well as a Masters in Artificial Intelligence, with my Dissertation being focused on mapping accident hotspots on shipping lanes. In the year after, I worked on publishing my first book as well as other academic works.

After completing my Masters, I wished to stay in academia as I enjoyed it immensely and wished to pursue a PhD. Yet the challenge was finding one with a topic I am interested in and making a difference. Fortunately, I succeeded and have the opportunity to work and expand knowledge in a fascinating area.

CENTA provides great opportunities for training as well as promotes camaraderie among fellow students. This helps ensure positive development as well as long term support throughout the PhD process.

In regard to future plans, I would like to continue research whether in industry or in academia and gain valuable experience. Yet failing this or when the research is completed, I would like to explore additional research opportunities as well as potentially teaching
